Electric Dream Productions: Principals

Hypnotica is the brainchild of performer/dancer Karl Baumann and actor/director Hugh O'Gorman.  Both are theatre veterans with 50 years of experience between them.  Together they have created a show that is the next step in the evolution of theatrical production, one that knows no boundaries.  It brings together varied and dynamic elements of traditional theatre, physical theatre, cirque, dance and cutting edge interactive performance technology, all in the pulsating environment of a nightclub.  The show itself is a derivative of the American musical genre, set to electronic music in the atmospheric beauty of an art installation.


Karl Baumann: Co-Creator/Director
Born and raised in Austria, Karl, a fifteen-year veteran of Cirque du Soleil, is a movement specialist and master performer.  After studying at the Juilliard School, Karl’s unique movement style landed him in a spot on the famed dance company, Momix.  After a four-year tour, the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil recruited Karl.  In his illustrious career with Cirque Karl has created and starred as the principal character in five shows: Mystere, Quidam, Delirium, KA and Kooza.  He has been lauded by critics around the world and performed Quidam more than 1,000 times.  Karl also works in the film industry doing choreography, stunt work, and creating characters for movies such as TinTin for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, as well as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  He has also appeared on the Rosie O Donell Show and the Tonight Show. His Credits include the 3-D Imax film Imagine, the film FX2, and numerous music videos including Aerosmith’s Jaded

Hugh O'Gorman: Co-Creator/Director

Hugh is an actor, director, and writer who has been active in professional theatre for over 20 years.  He has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway and at over a dozen of the nation’s most respected Regional Theatres and Shakespeare Festivals.  As a founding member of New York City’s Mint Theatre Company (2002 Drama Desk Award), Hugh directed The Harvest, and appeared as Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Nick in The Time of Your Life, and the Doctor in Anton Chekhov: stories from my youth. For four years Hugh portrayed Jeff Singer on AMC’s critically acclaimed, Emmy and CableAce award-winning show Remember WENN (SAG Award nomination). Other television: most recently, HBO’s multiple Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning John Adams, for CBS Still Standing, That’s Life, and for NBC The 10th Kingdom, Law & Order and ER. Film: Killers, Upstate, The Bend.  Hugh earned his BA from Cornell University and MFA in Acting from the University of Washington. He is a member of SAG, AFTRA, Actors Equity and the Michael Chekhov Association.

Burt Nelson: Operations Manager

An entrepreneur with a passion for creating, launching and growing successful new ventures, Burt has been involved in several international businesses throughout his career. He acquired years of experience in large-scale event production through his event company, Special Occasions, Inc., which was credited with successfully launching the grand opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, as well as producing large scale events globally. Burt handled all aspects of the company, from developing, implementing and maintaining the strategic business plans to over-seeing daily operations. He was also responsible for the production and operations of most of the key events produced by the company. After selling Special Occasions, Burt followed his passion for music and applied his skills to creating Hollywood's The Music Box theatre, a profitable, hands-on, street credible company that safely operates entertainment venues while striving to meet the needs of clients and patrons. With a "hands-on" approach to management, operations, production and event planning Burt and his team spent the last nine years implementing and executing their business model in the successful creation, development and management of entertainment venues with multi-purpose use, which capitalize on multiple revenue streams. Burt's background and education are in international business management with a degree in international business /management from Baylor University.

Trevor Tuttle: Art Director/Production Designer
With 15 years experience in art department and VFX for film and commercials, with such companies as Industrial Light and Magic, Trevor specializes in 2D and 3D design and animation, advanced camera layout, animation blocking, and optical camera data.  Film: Alice in Wonderland, Terminator Salvation, Beowolf, Harry Potter Goblet of Fire, Star Wars Episode II, A.I., Pearl Harbor, Star Wars Episode I, Men in Black, Jurassic Park.

Remington Scott: Motion Capture

Remington is a two time Academy Award winning VFX director and one of the leading Motion Capture experts in the field. A pioneer in the field of realistic 3-D human motion and animation, he was a director at the world's first motion capture facility dedicated to entertainment. Films: Watchman, I am Legend, Beowulf, Spider Man 2 & 3, Superman Returns, The Ani-Matrix, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, and many others.

Stanislav Greiner: Aerial Creations & Rigging

Stas was a member of the USSR National Team of Sports: Acrobatics, and was awarded the Master of Sports USSR.  He Performed with Cirque du Soleil's Mystere, the Moscow and Leningrad Circuses.  As a rigger Stas has worked on almost every major show in Las Vegas, including Le Reve, Believe, Beatles Revolution, Chris Angel, U2, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Britney Spears.

Marc Gabbana: Concept Artist

Marc has been working in the film, advertising, game and publishing industries for the past 20 years. Film: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones, Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions, Polar Express, War of the Worlds, Beowulf, A Christmas Carol  Jimmy Neutron-Boy Genius, 8 Mile, Hellboy, Monster House  and IMAX's first all CG 3D movie Cyberworld. Recent game titles include BioShock 2 and Iron Man 2.

Bill Gilman: VFX Supervisor

Bill is one of the top visual effects supervisors working in the industry today with over 20 years in the business, working at such top companies as Industrial Light and Magic.  Films: The Rum Diary, Men Who Stare at Goats, Star Trek IMAX, Evan Almighty, Ocean's Thirteen, The Good German, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, X-Men: The Last Stand, King Kong, Matrix Revolutions, Hulk, E.T., Star Wars: Episode II, AI.

Meats Meier: Animation Creations

Meats is an award winning digital artist, technical director and compositor (2 Expose Master Awards) with over a decade of experience in a wide range of artistic fields.  He designed the live concert projections for the rock tours: Roger Water's The Wall, and Tool.  Meats is the lead artist at the video game studio, Beyond Games.  Film: Sky Captain, World of Tomorrow and Hellboy.

Terry Notary: Movement & Aerial Choreography

Terry is a four-time NCAA All American Gymnast and captain of the UCLA gymnastics team.  He performed in Cirque du Soleil's Mystere for five years.  Movement choreography and performance film credits include  Jim Cameron's Avatar, Speilberg's Tin tThe Grinch, Planet of the Apes, X-Men 2, Superman Returns, The Incredible Hulk and Transformers 2.

Carmen Ruest: Director of Creation

Carmen is a founding member of Cirque du Soleil.  As casting director she helped grow the department from 5 to over 30 people world wide, scouring the planet for only the top artistic talent.  Carmen was a creative coach on Cirque's Alegrea and Mystere, creative and artistic coordinator on La Nouba, and the director of creation for the world tour of Delirium.

Stefan Haves:  Comic Act Creations

Stefan was the director and writer for the critically acclaimed circus Teatro Zinzanni and cretive consultant on the Tony Award winning Broadway hit Fool Moon.  He has acted in many television and stage shows, but is probably best known to audiences for his comedy contortion act entitled Back Man, which was a winner on America's Funniest People.  He is a Los Angeles Casting associate and show coach for Cirque du Soleil.

Jonathan Goodwin: Escape Creations

Jonathan is arguably the best escape artist in the world.  He has numerous British and American television appearances: Dirty Tricks, Deathwish Live, 7 Stupidest Things to Escape From, as well as his own show on the Discovery Channel One Way Out.  He has been hanged (not fun), buried alive (wicked), and locked in a box with 200,000 bees (painful).

Kathleen Chopin: Casting

Kathleen is an Emmy and Artio Award winning casting director.  She has cast over 50 feature films and television shows including: Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Arthur (remake), What's Your Number, Sin Bin, Bounty Hunter, A Muppets Christmas, John Adams, Recount, I am Legend, Hitch, Zoolander, Outsourced and Arlington Road.
